2-13-10 Eagle Scout Path Clearning Work Day

Bryson Grondel led a team of Eagle Scouts in clearning a path on the Olympia Parks Trail. Rain did not keep the 20+ group of mostly young men from ripping out scotch broom and cutting away a beautiful path. The group was highly organized and it was hard to get anyone away for an interview because they were working so hard. That issue was not a problem I was to find out later because I ended up without any interviews on account of my tape got ruined due the rain - I wonder what Peter Jackson would have done? A salamander showed up to visit along with the other workers.

2-20-10 Woodland Trails Assoc Tree Planting

Failure did not keep the Woodland Trails Association from making their second stab at tree planting along the Olympia Parks Trails. Sunshine blessed the seven plus workers who seemed very used to working together. Led by Jack Horton they seemed right at home traipsing up the side of the hill bearing tender seedlings, while I tried not to fall into any patches of newly sprouting nettles with all my camera equipment. Mike Ruth informed me he had heard an expert recently say that ten trees should be planted per person. I had to start counting to make sure I've done my part. But this rugged crew made quick work of 300 seedlings. Lucy Coffman came all the way from Tacoma just to help out. This group was awesome!

NEW ART

SOME DAYS I EAT A LOT OF CROW

GLOWING SUMMERS OF LAKEFAIR

THE BLESSING
May you spend one day in the cold and never forget the homeless
May you spend one day without food and never forget the hungry
May you spend one day without friends and never forget the lonely
May you spend one day in pain and learn to comfort the hurting
May you spend one day in the dark so you can learn to feel the light
May you spend one day in the storm and learn to look for the rainbow
May you spend one day with bad company to know your true friends
May you spend one day in sorrow and the rest dance for joy
May you spend one day with Jesus and never be the same
