MILLION DOLLAR ME

This is something I learned this year - to celebrate the everyday victories. Thanks to my buddy Rich, this piece started selling the second day it went public. He purchased it off our WEB STORE. Other than "Out-of-Print' art, you can purchase this at Capture Me Studios on-line ART GALLERY in a print, a t-shirt or card, as well as get other products.

GROWING IN THE NARTHEX

NARTHEX - nɑrθɛks - Pronunciation [nahr-theks]
–noun Architecture.
an enclosed passage between the main entrance and the nave of a church. Origin: 1665–75; < LGk nárthÄ“x, Gk: giant fennel
This expresses how I've longed to be close to God, but felt like I was not accepted into the 'inner sanctum' before in churches. I added in a fennel look due to the origin of the word, which made the leaf look like a butterfly. God always amazes me. I was actually working on another piece, but this just happened.

YOU'RE NOT ALONE

you're not alone -
it's not about stopping the pain
it's about the
transforming power
of love
when you're willing to be with me
when I don't know
what love is

My Sacred Life

I saw this squirrel on the pathway where I was walking Saturday morning. I don't usually see them preserved like this, as if he had just fallen in the same position he died. I try to let death shock me when I see it - an instant reminder of how short life is. I went home to get my camera and when I returned, these two people, Charlotte and Eric were also noticing the squirrel. We talked and they ended up helping me with the shoot. It felt comforting to be sharing in this strange event with them. I love America, where you can meet unknown friends on a path during a dead squirrel shoot. Thanks Charlotte and Eric. I hope to see you at the art show on Dec 12th.

Jamee & Jason

What a delight to share in this special couple's relationship. The light was waning, but we couldn't resist the photo shoot. Jason is also helping me out with an art piece I'm currently working on. Hopefully we can finish it before winter hits or it'll be another year.

POETRY

STUPID SHINES

My failures become
Their shining stars
When raised to heaven
To light their way home

I DO ONE THING AT A TIME

I do one thing at a time
One thing at a time
I do one thing at a time
And I do it well

The Annonen's

What a treat to run into my old cross-country coach, Dave Annonen and his wife Carol! They are some of the most amazing people I have ever met. They have been an awesome presence in the community for years. Dave was the kind of coach that ran with us - well he was too fast for me, but I'm hoping another ten years or so and I can keep up with him.

Under Dave's lead, many young people went on to compete at state. And all of us - learned respect for ourselves and others. By his example, he challenged us to keep in shape for life. Well, to try at least. I always have this inkling to 'suck it in' when I see him. But most of my friends from cross-country always ask the same question question when we see each other. "Are you still running?" If it's a 'no' - there's a moment of hushed silence - guess you fell off the wagon huh? Their eyes run across your frame as you look at them in their fitted nike outfit. Is there a recovery group for ex-runners? (I've only been walking lately, shhhhhh)

THE LATEST

COMMING SOON...... Ya'all come back. We've got something you do NOT want to miss. You are going to see something you've never seen before! We're heading down to Vancouver WA next week where former rare Viewmaster artist and current motivational speaker has agreed to photos doing something you'll never believe! Born with a degenerative disease that left him partially deaf and with tunnel vision. He is now totally blind. He always tells me "RizziN you can't let anything stop you!"

We've been having such a great time at the studio and on location. The awesome Howell family posed for this FAMILY photo. They have helped a lot with the Studio. They have acted in several short films and also posed for the Capture Me Studios film logo. I'm going to do four different poses, but this is the first one.

Also we're adding daily to our line of Christmas cards.

Bride's Side - B's Wedding

Here is a slideshow of the wedding. I was not the photographer, but here are some shots I took. I think everyone cried when B came around the corner holding her father's arm. She was no less than stunning together with Rourke in his uniform, they were a show stopper. There were many friends and family swirling around in the excitement happy to be there a part of their special day. The food was delish, and there was an ice sculpture of a fish spouting pink lemonade. And three different types of crushed fruit to put in your drink. Their friend who did the flowers had orchids flown in from another country. Sarah, Rourke's Aunt did the cakes. One bite was heaven and it was so lovely. I MUST find a reason to buy one of her cakes soon! She was nice enough to supply me with her info:

Sarah Maiava 9"Round or Square: $30
360 915-7789 16"Round or Square $40
360 490-0847 Wedding Cakes 2 Layer: $250
salases5@yahoo.com 3 Layer: $350

RUSSIAN OPERA SINGER

Nika is a Russian Opera Singer now living in the US. She went to the finest universities in Russia studying voice, acting and other subjects. She gave up her illustrious career in Russia and now teaches classical voice and sings in the US - ususally for charities. Nika has studied and taught modeling, it was amazing to watch the graceful way she moves and poses. It was a fun day, my friends Kathy and The Boz helped out. She is working on her next CD called "The Rapture," which will include some Rock Opera. These are untouched photos. If you are in need of a fabulous and encouraging music teacher e-mail me and I'll put you in touch with her - but she's pretty booked!

Olympia Art League - Betty's Dahlia's

Meeting Betty felt as if I was being introduced to Ann of Green Gables as a Grandmother. Betty met me when I got out of my car and entertained me with her stories and quick smile as she gave me a tour of their 20 acres. She told me that her husband bought their house and brought home 14 cows before they had even put up a fence. He also did an amazing graft job on an apple tree in her front yard - look for the photo, it's also displayed with the County Extension Office.

The other highlight of the morning for me was listening to Gloria Burton sing as I took photos. Her voice led me to a place of such beauty that I felt like I was floating somewhere between heaven and earth. It struck me that Gloria's words usually remind me of the way she paints. It's as if you are always stepping into a world of charm, encouragement and hopeful anticipation.

The dahlia's spoke to me about light, symmetry and movement.
